12/9 Meeting Minutes and Competition Results

Minutes 12/9/09

1. Discussion of Brewery Tour on November 14th
a. A good time was had by all that attended.
b. It was agreed that we would wait until warmer weather to try and do another tour.
c. Ideas were: Wisconsin Breweries, Dark Lord Day, the National Homebrew Conference in St. Paul, and Chris is trying to get tickets to Taste of the Midwest.
2. Discussion on ideas for club activity. (Brew day, change one ingredient in a recipe, etc.)
a. Kyle offered up his shop to do a club brew day. We can discuss specifics at the next meeting.
3. Revisit discussion of best means of communication (website, blog, facebook, email?)
a. I will post all relevant information on the website, but continue to send the emails for those who prefer that.

5. Winter Beer tasting/competition
a. Tasting went very well, lots of great beers and good suggestions. Everyone seemed to think it was a good idea and something to do again.
b. The next tasting is scheduled for the March meeting, Bocks or other amber beers will be the theme.
c. We can discuss ways to improve the process at the next meeting

iii. Kyle- Milk Stout
iv. Dave- Oatmeal Cream Stout
e. Thanks to Kyle for bringing a pound of hops for the winner. (I am willing to share, so if anyone is looking to do something with Centennial, let me know)
