Brixies’ Brewers’ Club
Minutes 5/12/10
1. Discussion on ideas for club activity.
a. Brew day went so well, we want to do it again. The plan is to do it at Brixies, in the garage/patio area and do it as a picnic with grills and the like. We want to do it this summer, look at your calendars and we’ll try to nail down a date at the June meeting.
b. We are looking at a February date to do the BJCP exam. The upfront cost would be $50 to cover the cost of the exam. There may be other cost for food and other things the day of the exam, plus the cost of the beer for the study sessions. If you are going to do this we need a commitment and the $50 to secure a date by the next meeting.
c. We discussed coordinating the next brew day with making beer to put in a barrel. We need about 12 brewers to do it so decide by the next meeting if you want in. If we have enough interest we can figure out the details at the June meeting.
d. Ryan and Kyle brewed a hoppy Amber ale and entered it in the Beerhoptacular club competition. It will be judged June 5th.
2. Any discussion on another brewery/beer tour?
a. National Home Brewer’s conference and competition is June 17-19 in St. Paul. If anyone is going we can try and get together while we are there, we can work out details at the next meeting.
b. New Glarus for our next brewery tour? Decide if you are interested in going and we can work out details at the next meeting.
3. If you want to enter the club competition in June simply bring 3 twelve ounce bottles of beer that are unmarked. When you get there you will write the style on a numbered card and put it on your bottles. You will also put your name on another card with the same number and put it in a folder. Any beer that can be loosely qualified as a “summer beer” can be entered.
4. Other Business
5. Next meeting is June 9th
