1. Brewery Tour Trip on November 14th.
a. 14-16 going Chris is figuring out transportation.
2. Payment of Dues and possible implications.
a. Group decided to do a pay as you go approach until numbers warrant looking into not for profit status. Based on the response and letters from the AHA it was decided that insurance was not necessary. It was also decided that election of officers was not necessary at this time.
3. Logistics for December Stout Tasting/Competition:
a. We decided to go with a double blind system. Each entry should be turned in with your name and the style. Another person will place a number, along with the style, on the bottle and record the brewer. This will be given to another person who will give it a new number, along with the style, and record the previous number. This way no one will know who’s is who’s. We also decided that we will have a first round with one beer per person. After that we will have a second round with all additional entries. We will use score sheets from the BJCP to score entries. For each entry you should bring 3, brown, 12oz bottles with no markings. Each bottle should be labeled with your name and the style attached with a rubber band.
4. Discussion of style for Spring tasting/competition
a. Spring tasting/competition will be at the March meeting, it will be Amber beers (Bocks, Amber ales, etc.).
5. Discussion of best means of communication (website, blog, facebook, email?).
a. Everyone seemed ok with using the email list as the primary means of communication with the website being updated by Andrew and Facebook by Justin. Please respond to emails, however, and not just one of the other sources.
6. Other Business
a. Everyone seemed to like the ordering of the samples, so for future meetings everyone will put what beers they brought on a list (white board if possible) and we will decide on an order. That way the brewer can talk about their beer and we try the beers from lighter flavors to more intense.
b. Binny’s is having a tasting on 11/19.
c. Brixie’s tasting is 11/21 at 3, cost is $15.
d. We also discussed having a club brew day, or experimenting with everyone brewing the same recipe and changing one ingredient. We can discuss this at the next meeting.
e. Bill Kink has a line on T-shirts if we would want them. We can discuss this at the next meeting.
